There are several ways to check on your record of transaction history and Direct Express card account balance that will be shown to you later in the article below. I will describe how to obtain and access these methods of information that you need in more detail.

What if your deposit of money is not there, and it should be.

  1. First, verify that it’s the right day of the month.

Direct Express does have a Direct Express Cardless Benefit Access for you to withdraw funds. The Cardless Benefit Access is considered a Direct Express Crisis money that allows you to access up to $1000 associated with your account, which isn’t extra money but allows you to access funds in your account.

Emergencies or a lost card can be helpful to still access your money up to $1000 available at any MoneyGram outlet in the USA, Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Helpful Steps To Speak To A Live Human At Direct Express

  1. First, call the Direct Express Customer Service toll-free number at 1-888-741-1115 (available 24/7)
  2. Next, press 1 for English or press 2 for Spanish. When the call is answered, immediately choose option 3 to speak to a live human.
  3. Enter your 16-digit debit card number. Your card number is 16 digits and is located on the front of your card.

1) Transfer money online

Once you have the routing and account numbers of the Netspend prepaid card, you can then log into your Direct Express debit card account, navigate to the money transfer section and initiate the transfer. You need to carry out an ACH or wire transfer.

An ACH transfer takes several days to complete, while wire transfers are instant. The good thing with ACH transfers is that you can reverse a transaction while not doing the same with a wire transfer.

2) Send money to an ATM

Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs) allow you to transfer money from one card to another. Therefore, you can transfer money from your debit card to a prepaid card by just pressing a few buttons on the ATM screen. You can follow the steps below.

  • Visit an ATM, then insert the debit card.
  • Choose your preferred language.
  • Enter your debit card PIN and press ‘Yes’ to continue.
  • Next, choose the “Fund Transfer” option on the ATM display.
  • Enter the recipient’s prepaid card issuer and account number.
  • Select the type of account. It can be a Savings Bank Account or a Current Account.
  • Enter the amount to transfer and click ‘Correct.’
  • Next, click ‘Yes to confirm the amount to send.
  • The funds will be transferred successfully to the prepaid card account.

3) Contact Direct Express Customer Service

You are allowed to transfer money from a Direct Express card to a bank account. Netspend is a prepaid account and has a bank account number and routing number so you can do this by calling customer service at Direct Express at 1(888) 741-1115   

(or you can find the number by looking at the back of your Direct Express Card)

Additionally, you can use your Direct Express card online account at USDirectExpress.com  

Since Netspend Prepaid Card is prepaid, not a debit card, just like a bank account, it has an account number and a bank’s routing number that you’ll need to add to send money.

Once transferred, it normally takes about 2-3 business days for the funds to arrive.

Money transfers from Direct Express to Venmo usually take 3 business days.

Since 2012, Venmo has been a free mobile app for both iPhone and Android users that allows users to send and receive money.

Adding Direct Express Card With Venmo

In the Venmo app,

Click  ☰  icon

Click Settings

Click Payment Methods

(this is where a list of the bank accounts and cards are located that you added to your Venmo account)

If you can’t add the payment method, then it may already be linked to another Venmo account. If this is the case, contact Venmo

Remember your card can still be declined for unavailable funds or fraud prevention.

Sometimes a zip code is required to link a payment card to your Venmo account.

Sometimes a charge of $0 or $1 is charged to your account to add your Direct Express Card. This is only temporary to confirm your addition. It will be credited to your account again within 5-7days.

3 Quick Ways To Transfer Money From Direct Express To Venmo 

The Direct Express card is a safe way to receive federal government benefits.

You can transfer money from Direct Express to Cash App by

  • Open Venmo app, Click the  ☰  icon, Click Settings, Click Payment Methods
  • Or You can transfer money from a Direct Express card to a bank account                                          by calling  1(888) 741-1115     (the number is on the back of your Direct Express Card)

You will see transfer funds or add an external account. Then add your Venmo Account number routing number  (These numbers can be found under Settings within the Venmo App).

While the transfer time will depend on your Direct Express Card Account policies, you’ll usually see the money in your Venmo Account within a few business days. 

Step By Step How To Transfer A Social Security Check To Your Venmo Account 

Gather your name, Social Security number, and new Venmo Account details.

You need all of this information to allow the Social Security office to make changes to your direct deposit.

On the Social Security administration’s website at SSA.gov there is a Direct Deposit Sign-up form (Standard Form 1199A). 

Please print a copy of it. Fill out the Sign-Up form and either take it to your bank or your local Social Security office for them to process it or

Additional Ways To Transfer Money From Your Direct Express Card To Another Account

  1. Withdraw from an automated teller machine (ATM) and make a cash deposit at the local bank directly to an account.
  2. Buy a money order at a convenience store, supermarket, or post office for a nominal fee and deposit it to another account in case that bank doesn’t allow a cash deposit.
