Chime was founded by two entrepreneurs, Chris Britt (CEO) and Ryan King (CTO), in 2013 in San Francisco. Chime is not a bank but instead a financial technology company. The Bancorp Bank or Stride Bank provides the banking services and issues the Chime Debit Visa Card, and stride Bank is the Bank that issues the Chime Credit Builder Card.

The Chime company doesn’t operate from any fees concerning minimum balance fees or overdrafts, consumer fees, monthly service fees, and means operating not as traditional banks typically operate which saves their members money.

Regional banks have partnered with Chime to help lower costs for Americans that have not been served very well by traditional banks, thus creating a more competitive market.

Chimes’ Highlights:

  • Your money is safe with Chime with Security Features
  • Overdraft Protection up to $200 that is fee-free
  • Your account is paid up to 2 days early with a direct deposit
  • No hidden fees

Chime is one of the top neo banks with millions of customers. A neo bank is a type of Bank that does not have its own physical location. Instead of spending money to maintain their own physical branches, Chime invests that money into building the best online banking platform.

Chime has developed a reputation for valuing its customers and putting their needs first.

About Chime

Banking Services for the Chime Visa Debit Card are provided by The Bancorp Bank or The Stride Bank, N.A.; both are Members of the FDIC.

The Bancorp Bank is the Bank that issues the Chime Visa Debit Card.

The Chime company doesn’t have to rely on fees concerning minimum balance fees, monthly service, overdrafts, or other consumer fees to operate. Thus appealing to many consumers.

In 2018 Chime had 1M customers, and in 2019 it grew to 4M users.

In December 2019, the company had 6.5M accounts.

Most banks make it hard to open an account if you have marks in ChexSystem. Especially if you had a pattern of bad habits or marks on your credit history, these bad marks could affect your finances. At Chime, a second chance is banking for you since Chime does not check you in ChexSystem.

About Chime Metal Credit Builder Card

The Chime Metal Credit Builder Card is a unique financial product that allows you to build your credit without ever taking on debt. The features and benefits of using any credit or debit card product for that matter are definitely the most important factor.

If you are anything like me, you might care about what your card looks like for whatever reason.

So i just want to let you know what this card actually is and how does it really work well, and then talk about how you can get this limited edition metal time credit builder Hard so that you can flex on your friends and build your credit union process all right?

Essentially the Chime Metal Credit Builder card allows you to move money from your regular Chime spending accounts to your new metal credit builder card.

When you spend money using your Chime metal credit builder card, it will be reported as an on-time payment to the credit bureaus and ultimately help build your overall credit score.

The easiest way to further explain this about the credit bureau score is that its basically a Prepaid credit card Which means you transfer money beforehand And then just spend money like you would with a regular Debit card.

Looks Great

I’m fully aware that the material that a card is made out of and how it looks should normally not mean absolutely anything, and I think that most of us can agree. But there is a sense that is appreciated when you use a card that looks so amazing, and maybe you also probably care about what your credit or debit cards look like for whatever reason.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with a feeling like that, and actually, if something as simple as a metal credit card can get you excited about building your credit score in personal finance in general again, then personally, I think it’s a beautiful thing.

How To Get The Limited Edition Chime Metal Card

Let me now explain how to get this Limited Edition Chime Metal Credit Builder card. Go to Chimes website to apply and see that there is actually an entire page detailing all that is needed for you to know about this product and, more importantly, how you can get it.

On the Chime Metal Site You can see that this card has that metallic emerald green finish and of course, The premium metal feel and weight That we all the so if you had a card, Why the apple credit card or one of the Higher and American express cards This one is probably going to be very similar to that as far as looks and feel are concerned.

To qualify for this limited edition metal credit builder card from Chime is a bit difficult but also makes it a bit special, so here are the steps:

Steps to Become Member/Sign up for Chime Credit Builder Card

So if you have not yet signed up for a regular Chime Account, which is basically a checking account, then once you’ve opened that product, you want to go ahead and Sign up for the credit builder card, which is basically an extension of your chime spending account.

The chime spending account will then be the product that allows you to build credits without ever taking on any debt.

To recap, at this point, you have the Chime spending debit card, which is the white plastic card, and you also have the Chime credit builder card, which is the green plastic card that is essentially a prepaid credit card.

NEXT STEP Challenge to get the Chime metal version of the credit builder card, you have to complete what they call the metal card challenge. The challenge involves making 40 qualified purchases within 60 days of receiving an invite to this limited card edition.

40 transactions and 60 days probably sounds like a lot, and to have to spend 40 transactions and 60 days for small purchases that you do not need just to get this metal credit card seems absolutely ridiculous.

Spending money irresponsibly just to get a premium card honestly defeats the whole purpose of getting this product that is first and foremost appealing to improve your personal finances and hopefully help fix some of those bad spending habits.

With that being said, really any transaction that is at least $1 using your credit builder card could actually just be something as simple as a cup of coffee with a limit to five of these qualifying transactions per day.

Even at that rate you would complete 40 transactions in only 8 days but remember you do have 60 days to complete the 40 transactions. The bottom line is it’s pretty easy to hit that 40 transaction requirement.

Important to Remember

Remember that all 40 transactions must be made on your Chime credit builder card in order for them to count, so just make sure you’re using that Chime credit builder card, not the regular chime debit card.

The second thing is that you need to be invited to this metal card challenge via email, so there’s not a whole lot of information online as to how to get invited but just as a regular credit builder customer. You should get an email basically right when you sign up, so at least from what I have found that it sounds like everyone will have this option to sign up for this challenge.

Steps to get the Limited Edition Metal Chime Credit Builder Card

  1. Open a Chime Account
  2. Apply for the Credit Builder Card
  3. Make 40 qualifying transactions on your credit builder card within 60 days of receiving your email invite

By making all of these 40 transactions on your Chime credit builder card will mean they all count as an on-time payment made by the credit bureaus, which is really good for your credit score and credit history.

At Chime, a checking account has another name – a spending account.

The spending account is like a checking account, except there is no physical checkbook. Instead, the Chime checkbook is a virtual checkbook.

It is $5 per check and $10k limit per month to write a virtual check that Chime mails on your behalf.

To apply for a Chime Credit Builder, you first need to have a Chime Spending Account and will need to have made a qualifying direct deport of $200.00 or more within the last year.

More Features

A get-paid early feature is what Chime promotes many times. The feature of “get paid early” allows you to have access to your paycheck up to 2 days early than any traditional bank. This really helps if you live paycheck to paycheck. You must have an emergency fund to have the 2 days early feature.

Chime Accounts can auto-transfer a portion of your money to a savings account that you have so you will have an emergency fund. Chime provides 0.01% on the savings account, which is much lower than other banks, but this account’s benefits outweigh this small percentage as not being the main objective to build credit and save on fees.

Mobile payments is another feature when your family and friends also use Chime Spending Accounts. This allows you to transfer money to family and friends accounts in a peer-to-peer system with a limit of $2k.

Chime has two automatic savings options. When you use the Visa Debit Card, your purchase can be rounded up to the nearest dollar, and the change will go to the savings account. You will not save a fortune this way, but it is better than nothing. You can save when you get paid.

This will help you to signup for a regular Chime Account, which is basically a checking account; then once you’ve opened that product, you want to go ahead and Sign up for the credit builder card, which is basically an extension of your chime spending account.

The chime spending account will then be the product that allows you to build credits without ever taking on any debt.
