Direct Express Forgot Email Process

If you have forgotten the email process you may call the Customer Service Department.

The Customer Service is available, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and can be reached at

When you reach the auto-attendant, enter your 16-digit debit card number.

You can proceed because your card number was accepted, so choose option 3 immediately to speak with a live person and customer service will help you.

Direct Express Forgot Pin Process

When you activated your Direct Express Debit Mastercard, you were asked to choose a personal identification number (PIN). This number is the same number you enter on the keypad at ATMs and retail locations when you use your card.

If you cannot remember or wish to change your personal identification number (PIN), here is what to do:

By Phone – Change personal identification number (PIN)

Customer Service will ask for your card number, so have it ready when you call and a representative will then help you. 

Online – Change personal identification number (PIN)  

Another way to change or recover your personal identification number (PIN), is to login online at

USDirectExpress.com   

  • Click Login
  • Enter our User Identification number (ID)
  • Enter your Password

Once you have been directed to your account successfully, you can change your personal identification number (PIN).

Any problems with this can be solved by calling customer service.

At An Automated Teller Machine (ATM) – Change personal identification number (PIN) 

Additionally, you can change your personal identification PIN number at a surcharge-free Direct Express ATM network in which you can access over 50,000 ATMs across the country, free of charge.

How To Change Personal Information In Account

Online you can go to USDirectExpress.com 

  • Click Login
  • Enter your User Identification number (ID)

(When you activated your Direct Express Debit Mastercard, you were asked to choose a personal identification number (PIN). This number is your login ID)

  • Enter your Password

By Phone

You can also call Customer Service at 1-888-741-1115 to speak with a live 

person and change your personal information for your Federal Benefits.

(You may wish to contact the Social Security Administration (SSA) if you change your address or personal information because Comerica bank does not update the information to the Social Security Administration.) 

Email and Live Chat

Direct Express does not provide a way to change your address by email as there is no email address for customers. Also, there is no Live Chat available.

How To Unlock My Direct Express Account

Your Direct Express card cannot be unlocked online, so, if your card is locked for whatever the reason and you can’t use your card at all, you should call customer service at

  • Customer Service: 1-888-741-1115
  • Hearing-impaired: 1-866-569-0447

Your identity will then be verified by Customer service before they unlock your Card. Then you can once again use your Direct Express card immediately.

Why Card Is Locked

The reason your card could be locked by Direct Express is that they might have suspected or noticed fraudulent activity on your Card due to multiple activities on your card to make a purchase.

Suspicious Transactions

This could happen because of suspicious transactions other than your usual use of your card and your card may be temporarily blocked for all new transactions until Customer Service speaks and verifies recent activity on your card with you before they unblock it.

To avoid the cancellation of your card, you should call customer service as soon as possible.

Automated Teller Machine (ATM) Suspicious Transactions

Multiple failed attempts to use the card to withdraw money at an ATM.

For example, if you have entered your ATM pin wrong in multiple attempts, then the card gets automatically blocked.

That’s because Direct Express may think there is an attempt at committing fraud with your card.

As a result, your card may be blocked temporarily or in some cases permanently.

You will have to call customer service to have them unblock your card.

Stolen or Lost 

If you previously reported to Customer Service at Direct Express that your Card was stolen or you lost the Card, they will promptly cancel the Card. 

So, if you find the Card after your report, you will still not be able to use that Card and will need to call Customer Service for a replacement card. 

Even though this seems like a hassle to wait up to two weeks to receive a new replacement card, remember this was done to protect your funds in your account.

Card Has Expired

Also, another possible reason why your Direct Express Card is not working is when the Card is expired.

Simply check your expiration date written on the front of the Card.

Get A Replacement Card

You will need to call Customer Service because Direct Express won’t allow this to be done online. So make a report with Customer Service.

When you reach Customer service, they will verify your identity, they will then proceed to cancel your current card and finally, they can send you a new replacement card. 

When your new Direct Express card has arrived in the mail then, call the Customer Service Department for Direct Express to activate your new card. Look on the back of your Direct Express card and you can find the phone number.

Any funds from your old card will be put on your new replacement card.
