Steps Making Chime Direct Deposits

Depositing money from your employer by direct deposit is the easiest way to receive money into your Chime Checking Account.

You can simply provide your employer or payroll provider your Chime Routing number and your Chime Checking Account number so that they can make your direct deposits to your account.

Your funds will automatically post to your Chime Checking Account as soon as we receive them.

To get started, you can find your Chime routing number and Checking Account number in the Chime app sections, Move Money and Settings, or by logging in to your account online.  

External Bank Transfers To Chime

External banks allow transfers to Chime from their websites and apps.

To get started:

  1. Log in to the other Bank’s website or app.
  2. Look for the Transfer menu option.
  3. You can add your Chime routing and account number in the transfer screen, found in the Chime app on the Settings page.

External Bank Transfers Are The Fastest Way To Move Money From Another Bank To Your Chime Account

How do I make a transfer from an external bank to Chime

You can link an external bank account you own to your Chime Checking Account using the Chime app through the Move Money section or logging in to your account online.

In the Chime app:

  1. Under Move Money, select Transfers.
  2. When you are prompted, enter the other Bank’s login credentials.
  3. Your external bank account will be instantly linked to your Chime Checking Account. 

The list of supported external banks includes:

  • Bank of America
  • Capital One
  • Chase
  • Citi
  • PNC
  • Regions Bank
  • TD Bank
  • U.S. Bank
  • USAA
  • Wells Fargo, and more. 

After you have successfully linked your external account, you can then make unlimited transfers to your Chime Checking Account from your external account, and within 5 business days, the money will be available.

If you get an error when using the Chime app to transfer money from a linked external account into your Chime Checking Account, try logging into the external account and transferring the money from there. To do this, you may need your Chime account number and routing number, which you can find in the Chime app under Settings.

Load Your Chime Card At Green Dot Locations 

Have you ever wondered how to deposit Cash money to Chime Debit Card? For example, a green dot location can be found at your local 7-Eleven or over 90,000 retail locations like Walmart or Walgreens. If you Google a green dot location, you can find the nearest available outlet nearest you. 

You are allowed to make up to 3 Deposits every 24 hours to your Chime Visa Debit Card Account. The total you can deposit is up to $1,000 every 24 hours and a maximum of $10,000 every month. The fee to do this is up to $5 fee per deposit.

When you arrive at a retail store, simply: 

  • Go to the cashier and state your purpose to the cashier. 
  • The cashier will ask for your Chime Debit Card and swipe the card.
  • The cashier will collect the desired amount of money you wish to deposit plus a $5 fee.
  •  Of course, the cashier will give you a receipt showing your transaction. 

You will then also receive a notification from your Chime Debit Card account in approximately 5 mins.

The fee to load your Chime Credit card at CVS is around $4.95.  Customers will then be charged a fee to load the Chime Credit Card between $3.50-$4.95, and customers can only load their card 3 times in a 24-hour period.

Enrolling Chime Mobile Check Deposit 

When you are eligible, then Chime will allow the Mobile Check Deposit. This is determined on your history related to all of the accounts you have with Chime, direct deposit history and amounts of your direct deposits, and other factors for risk assessment. 

If you have received one or more direct deposits of at least $1 since the month of June 1, 2021, from an employer or a payroll provider, a Gig economy payer paid to you through ACH (automated clearing house) transfer or Government benefits or OCT (original credit transaction), then you are eligible. 

The Mobile Check Deposits will be automatically enabled to your Chime phone app starting 30 days from the time you first receive your payroll direct deposit.

Increase Chime Credit Limit 

The Chime Visa Credit Card is different from other secured cards because you can adjust your credit limit by adding more money to your card, similar to a prepaid debit card.

You can increase your “Available To Spend” limit at any time. Simply deposit more money on your card, and your limit immediately goes up. 

The “Move My Pay” feature allows you to transfer your paycheck to your Credit Card. This means every payday, you can increase your credit limit. 

Unlike many credit cards, your Chime Credit Builder card doesn’t have a limit based on your credit history or fees. Instead, there is a $10,000 per day limit on purchases.

A maximum of $1,000 can be deposited every 24 hours up to a maximum of $10,000 each and every month. The deposits may be subject to a third-party fee or limit depending on how you deposit to your Chime account, of course.

Phone App Adding Another Card Account To Your Chime Account

  1.  Log in to your Chime online account at www.chime.com  or Open Chime App on your phone.

        2. Click Move Money (the bottom icon on your phone app.)

You will see a couple of options such as:

  • Direct Deposit 
  • Depositing a check 
  • Depositing cash at an ATM (Automated Teller Machine)
  • Transferring from another Bank Account or Card Account.

        3. Click Transfers

The app will say add money from an external account, and at the bottom of the app, you can see it says link your external account.

Chime uses Plaid to link your Bank details and is secure. Plaid is a large company that allows you to connect your banks instantaneously, so you don’t have to worry about details. 

There will automatically be a list of the most popular Banks to choose from, or you can type in the Bank that you wish to utilize.

  • Enter the login credentials for your other Card or Bank accounts, such as email and password.
  • Plaid will then verify your information.
  • Then choose the account you want to have set up.

(The Card account you have will then be instantly linked to your Chime Visa Debit Account.)

This will allow you to then be able to transfer money into your Chime Visa Debit Account.

After you have linked your other card account with your Chime spending account, you can then use the Chime app, so you are able to make money transfers from your different card account to your Chime Spending Account, with the

following limits:

    There is a maximum of $10,000 for each calendar day.

    There is a maximum of $25,000 for each calendar month.

Normally your funds will then be available within (5) business days.
