How Chime Operates
Chime is not a bank but instead a financial technology company. Chime is an online bank that ultimately provides convenient access, does not maintain physical branches, and provides more convenient features than most traditional banks for millions of customers.
The Chime company doesn’t operate from any fees concerning minimum balance fees or overdrafts, consumer fees, monthly service fees, and means operating not as traditional banks typically operate, which saves their members money.
Chime is one of the top neo banks with millions of customers. A neo bank is a type of Bank that does not have its own physical location. Instead of spending money to maintain their own physical branches, Chime invests that money into building the best online banking platform.
How Much I Can Take Off My Chime Card
Banks and Credit Unions — You are allowed to withdraw cash physically at a credit union or local bank by showing your Chime Visa Debit Card at the teller window for your withdrawal. Withdrawing money at the teller is normally labeled an Over-the-counter withdrawal, and there is a $2.50 fee every time you withdraw cash this way, with a limit of up to $500.00 per day.
A fee of $2.50 per transaction and the total incurred including ATM and Over-The-Counter Withdrawals, funds withdrawn at a POS (point of sale), and purchases are all subject to a total of $2,500 maximum per day on your card.
An out-of-network provider, ATM owner-operators, merchants, and participating banks may impose their own lower limits and fees on cash withdrawals.
If any in-network ATM accidentally charged you a fee, then simply send a message from the Chime mobile app, so Chime can find the issue and credit any mistake made back into your account.
Chime will reimburse the $2.50 fee one time as long as you have received any direct deposit in the amount of $1 or more since June 1, 2021, from an employer or payroll provider, gig economy payer via automated clearing house (ACH) transfer or Original Credit Transaction (OCT), or government benefits.
